Women’s Center SAAM Events

Denim Days
When: April 3rd and 17th
Time: All day
Location: Lynn University
In 1992, an 18 year old female was raped in Italy by her driving instructor. The case was overturned by the High Court, which stated that, since she was wearing tight jeans, the rapist could not have done this by himself. The women of the Italian legislature protested by wearing jeans. Join the Lynn University community in participating in Denim Day to honor victims/ survivors of sexual assault by wearing denim for the day. Employees can pay $5 at Employee Services to wear jeans. Students are encouraged to participate as well.

The Clothesline Project
When: April 6th– 10th
Time: 12pm– 4pm
Location: ASSAF Courtyard
The Clothesline Project is a visual display that bears witness to the violence against men and women. During this week, a clothesline will be hung displaying shirts made by Lynn students, staff and faculty members. Each shirt is decorated to represent a particular victim’s experience, by the survivor or by someone who cares about them. If you would like to create a shirt, please stop by the ASSAF courtyard between 12pm and 4pm during this week

50 shades of Consent
When: April 15th
Time: 12pm
Location: Wold Salon

Let’s get curious and cautious by exploring the topic of sexual consent. Inspired by the novel and movie 50 Shades of Grey we will host an open forum to address consent and healthy  relationships as they relate to the popular E.L. James story. Be sure to invite your friends, pizza and refreshments will be served.

Take Back the Night
When: April 23rd
Time: 6pm
Location: Perper Plaza

Take Back the Night is an international event with the mission of ending sexual violence in all forms. Join us as we march, hear from survivors and speakers and attend a vigil intended as a protest and direct action against rape and other forms of sexual violence

For more information about these events, please contact Charlotte Muriel, Women’s Center at (561) 237-7955 of cmuriel@lynn.edu
