Diane Dicerbo, Director of Academic Advising, Assistant Professor & Director of Pine Tree Camp is the featured Lynn celebrity for this month’s READ poster.
For her poster, Diane recommends the book The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. About her selection, Diane says:
“This book depicts my true meaning of a mother-child relationship. The tree (mom) gives everything to the boy freely because she loves him, and its feelings are finally reciprocated by the boy when he returns to the tree for a rest in his old age. Despite getting nothing in return for a long time, the tree (mom) puts the boy’s needs foremost, because it wants him to be happy. The only time the tree (mom) is sad is when it feels that it has nothing left to give the boy.
If we as parents waited on reciprocity before caring for our children, then we would all be doomed.”
